b. of the role of man's perception of his environment and the choice and decisions he makes
c. that man's place in the system enables him to alter the interrelationships
1. Enquiry-based learning
In order to enhance teaching efficiency and arouse students' learning interests, teachers search and use recent examples and pictures, as well as fully utilizing information technology so as to help students understand the concepts better and participate in the lesson actively. These include online voting platforms, Google forms, quizzes in Google Earth, video and flash animation presentations provided by publishers, as well as AR and VR videos, apps and the AR sand box.
2. Student-centred learning
More interactive approaches are adopted. Students are requested to do preparation for lessons before and to participate in different tasks during the lessons. There are pre-read powerpoints and pre-lesson preparation activities such as quizzes/ the flip classroom for students to complete. They are also expected to frequently answer questions in class, join group discussions and presentations, draw diagrams and play games etc.
3. Catering for learners’ diversity
Worksheets, quizzes and tests of different levels of difficulty have been tailored for different classes in order to consolidate the learning of vocabulary and concepts of students. However, standardized examination papers are specially designed to evaluate the performance of students equally. Most important of all, the subject will put focus on training students’ organizing ability, as well as the problem-solving, critical thinking and analytical skills, thus High-Order Thinking exercises, questions and current issues are incorporated in the design of worksheets, quizzes, tests and examinations. It is agreed that no less than 40% of the examination marks will be set on HOT and structured questions in all junior forms examination papers.
